Saturn Conjunct Pluto

Today we see the much anticipated conjunction between conservative Saturn, planet of tradition, structure and authority, and alchemical Pluto, planet of destruction, transformation and renewal.

For the first time in thirty-eight years these two heavyweight planets meet in space and the effects are already palpable. On a collective level we're seeing crisis in the natural world and the crumbling of political structures and institutions. Within the first two weeks of 2020 we've already experienced the tragedies of:

- Military action between America and Iran involving the shooting down of a civilian airplane

- A bill passed for the UK to leave the European Union, with many predicting this resulting in the dismantling of the United Kingdom itself

- The explosive eruption of Taal Volcano in the Philippines on the very day of the conjunction and the ongoing tragedy of the Australian bushfires.

We've also seen Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's decision to quit the royal family, to leave behind a stifling and oppressive system of rules and tradition, to instead create futures more authentic to themselves and the world they wish to see.

We're being called to wake up, to rise in our own right and to overcome unhealthy imbalances of power. On an individual level, we're being invited to walk the sacred hero's journey in 2020, to face the shadow of our psyches, to tear down that which is outdated and delve deep for the gold buried within.
